Stem cells repair damages

Updated: Apr 25, 2019

When affected by disease, our immune system innately heal. Stem cells, like soldiers in our immune system, help us heal quicker.

Stem cell treatment is a novel and safe treatment of diseases such as blood cancers, autoimmune diseases and chronic joint pain. They regenerate damaged tissues in joints and also reduce inflammation to benefit autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and thyroiditis.

Regenerative therapy refers to stem cell treatment to multiply new cells for treatment of diseased organs. Research shows that it can potentially treat heart disease, stroke, Parkinson Disease, Alzheimer Disease and even spinal cord injuries. Notably, these research are experimental but disruptive!

Stem cells in regenerative therapy

Stem cells are primitive with immense potential to differentiate into many tissues. Cord blood is a rich source of stem cells, but they can also be found in the adult bone marrow and placenta.

Platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP)

For PRP, the patient’s blood is first centrifuged to obtain growth factors and platelets. These are rich in protein to enhance healing and infused into the injured joint ligaments or discs.

The infused platelets release hundreds of repair proteins. Many professional athletes had tried this treatment successfully in their career.

The infused regenerative cells stimulate healing and the re-growth of new tissue. In degenerative joints, there is re-growth of new cartilage. With torn muscles or ligaments, regenerative therapy grows new tissues to heal the injury.
