What happens in second trimester?

Updated: Apr 24, 2019

Your exciting moments have arrived as you feel those little flutters and kicks of your baby. These tiny movements reassure you that baby is growing and bonds you closer to your tiny one.

At trimester 2, your baby is about 15 cm and weighs 400 g. Tiny fingerprints can be seen. Yes, he or she can hear you. Don't worry if you can't feel any movements. You will feel kicks and flutters soon.

Small baby kicks may be felt by the mother after 16 weeks. Baby also develops sleeping patterns like us. A moisturising layer of white creamy vernix coats your baby and protects your baby’s skin from the months of submersion in amniotic fluid.
