How much coffee is safe in pregnancy?

Coffee/ tea is not advised in first trimester of pregnancy as caffeine is associated with miscarriage in first trimester. In second/ third trimester, the maximum limit of caffeine intake recommended is 200 mg/day (one cup of coffee at maximum).

Some mothers describe an aversion to coffee when they are pregnant when they used to enjoy their cups of coffee. This may be our body’s mechanism to protect the baby. Your baby may become super active with coffee as caffeine crosses the placenta and affects the baby. So drink coffee cautiously.
